Vincent likes a good ghost movie now and then so this weekend we have a really good ghost movie indeed: “The House That Would Not Die” from 1970. This one has Barbara Stanwyck (she was the big boss on “Big Valley”) and Richard Egan (he was the guy in that “Gog” movie we recently screened).

A few years back, Tangella really wasn’t that dangerous. Oh, sure, she would detonate explosives at inexplicable times and at inappropriate places, but that was always part of her random acts of amusing charm. Especially since she’s only 160 centimeters in height and weighs less than a large bag of rice.

Imagine a not-so-distant future where the US government is so concerned with overpopulation that they invoke a one-child law. And then you find out your wife is pregnant with number two. Whoops. Despite being set in the future, this is more of a cat & mouse story than a science fiction tale.

It’s a fairly predictable formula: every few years we run the Bay Area classic “The Milpitas Monster.” The creator, Robert Burrill, will join us to talk about the movie and show us some customarily absurd props from the film. He might bring special effects guru, Stephen Wathen with him.

Technology actually does in fact make life better. Take for example ghostly telephone harassment. In the old days, ghosts could call you on your landline, catching you off-guard and scaring you half to death. Couldn’t happen today. Nope. You’d see that same number pop up on your screen and send that phantom caller to voicemail.
