It will be Christmas Eve, of course, and we would be remiss not to present some yuletide cheer. This year it will be “A Christmas Carol” from 1984. A really good version of this story, this one stars George C. Scott and features some of the spookiest ghosts we’ve ever seen in this Dickens classic. We think you’ll like it!
Guest-wise, we’ll be joined by the man in red himself, the world-famous Santa Claus. It’s been a few years since he’s been able to squeeze us into his schedule, but this year he happens to have a short layover in California as he gets ahead of the time difference. Luckily, this is only possible because California still does that thing where they set the clocks back in the Fall. Old Saint Nick will tell us about his travels, detail some of the technicalities of maintaining flight trajectories utilizing only reindeer as a propulsion system and give us an idea of who in the mansion might have been naughty and who has definitely been nice.
All this while Tangella traumatizes Christmas carolers, next Saturday night at 9PM Pacific on YouTube at the enclosed link and on-demand at our Roku, AppleTV and FireTV channels. Don’t miss it!
I saw this film in 1985 when I was 25. A faithful (to the book) and loving rendition of a classic. After seeing many versions, this is now one of my favorites. George C. Scott is a magnificent bastard and the tone is as dark as it should be.
Thanks for showing it.
Merry Chrismas and Feliz Navidad !
