We’ve always like Russian space movies and maybe you have too. And if you did, you might just really like this one: The Grand Space Journey from 1975. It’s a kid’s movie. But not like a little-kid movie. More like a Soviet sci-fi version of Harry Potter, if you can pardon poorly-structured and off-the-mark analogies. In any case, we have a great copy of this fun movie and if you can handle reading a few subtitles, you’ll like it. And if you understand Russian, you’ll probably love it.
Joining us for this Soviet-era treat will be our old friend, C. Andrew Nelson. You might not recognize his face because it’s usually covered with a Darth Vader mask. When he was with LucasFilm, he appeared as our favorite space villain more times than David Prowse did. He’ll tell us what it’s like simulating bronchitis from inside a heavy costume and share with us some tales from his days working under the iron fist of George himself.
All this while Tangella again dabbles in voodoo, this Saturday night at 9PM Pacific Time on KOFY TV20, the YouTube link above, our Roku, AppleTV and FireTV channels and on an interstellar-sized selection of cosmic television stations nationwide. Don’t miss it!
