This weekend on Creature Features:

We haven’t many swamps in California. That would require a decent amount of precipitation which we have little of as well. Not too many lagoons here either, let alone black ones. However what we lack in swamps and rain, we make up for in beaches and ocean. So while a creature from a lagoon that is black wouldn’t survive long here, likely succumbing to a really bad case of chapped lips, a monster suitably adapted to the state’s arid climate could do rather well. And that’s what we’ll be serving up this weekend:

The Monster of Piedras Blancas.

If you have not yet seen this movie, you might be raising your eyebrows a bit at the title. We understand as we did as well. However, this is a really a nice picture. Beautifully filmed, competently acted and a nice departure from the other low-budget disasters that came out in 1959. We think you’ll like this one. If not, we’re sure you’ll enjoy seeing more of Tangella, Livingston and Handrew as we forgot to book a guest for the evening.

All this while Tangella steals Maurice’s kitchen utensils, this Saturday night at 9PM Pacific Time on KOFY TV20, the YouTube link above, our Roku, AppleTV and FireTV channels and on a monstrous selection of seafaring television stations nationwide. Don’t miss it!
