July 3rd, 2019 was the last time we showed “The Ape” from 1940. It was our Independence Day Weekend movie. Not sure why, as primates and fireworks seldom go hand-in-hand. We likely had nothing else to show. So why are we resurrecting this old prune for this weekend? Because we actually have a guest that knows the monkey-business necessary to appreciate this film.
Joining us will be Mickey the Baboon. At this point, you’re likely thinking this is going to be another extended animal segment on Creature Features. But this is a little different, as Mickey is a movie star in his own right. He’s done quite a few films, but you might remember him best for portraying “Hey Man”, Tom Cruise’s plucky companion in the 2012 film “Rock of Ages.” Mickey will be joined by his handler Kevin Keith to do the talking as he tells us all about their adventures and explains in great detail what life with a baboon entails.
All this while Livingston has a close shave with Tangella, next Saturday night at 9PM Pacific on YouTube at the enclosed link and on-demand at our Roku, AppleTV and FireTV channels. Don’t miss it!
As a fan of hosted horror / si / fi movies, I hereby place your odd little show and personas in my hall of fame along with the hosts of the show I grew up with, “Fright Night” which had several hosts, including Seymour Butts (and his slimy wall), Grimsley the mortician and the luscious Elvira, mistress of the dark (aka Cassandra Peterson) We did not receive Creature Features in Los Angeles. Thanks to your YouTube channel, I’ve discovered Bob Wilkins who I’d never heard of. Do continue to keep alive the hosted horror/ sci fi film genre and I will keep enjoying your show.
